We started serving food in an alley between 2 churches in March 2020 when COVID hit and all the other food programs shut down. We assumed people were still hungry.

Like all impactful ministries, they oftentimes begin with a simple mission: to serve and love others using the gifts and resources that are God-given. With a heart to serve and connect with his neighbors on the streets, Dan began to cook up hot dogs and tater tots in the alleyway of an Episcopal Church in the heart of Ocean Beach.

Even though the pandemic where resources for those who are food insecure became slimmer and slimmer, the Alley showed up for those who needed a warm meal more than ever.

Over the past 2+ years, Dan and other volunteers began to see relationships form and people’s tangible needs being met through a meal. The Alley Ministry was birthed out of a heart to meet people where they are at by providing a meal and for those who have served or been served by the Alley, it is evident the heart has remained the same.
